Naked record smashed: Becci Ellis hits 231.389mph at Elvington
One of our very own XHYPE Hero’s, Becci Ellis shattered the record for the fastest top speed on a naked bike by a female rider, hitting an astonishing 231.389mph over 1.25 miles from a standing start. This remarkable feat was accomplished on her custom-built 1999 Suzuki Hayabusa named Odyssey. The turbocharged powerhouse, costing £24,000 to construct (excluding two years of labour), ran at 28lbs of boost during the run, delivering approximately 350bhp. Becci shared her experience, stating, “During the actual run, my head is literally where the eye line is just at the top of the clocks. I couldn’t get any lower; otherwise, I wouldn’t have been able to see, but the pressure on your shoulders is quite a lot.” The record-breaking run took place on Saturday, 23 September at Elvington in Yorkshire – a venue that saw Becci achieve 264.1mph over a standing mile in 2014 to become the overall fastest female rider in the world. “I wanted to be able to go as fast as I possibly could without any restrictions,” the former motorcycle instructor continued. “People think ‘bloody hell, 56, shouldn’t you’d be like coming on to retirement age?’ but I’m not like that. I don’t act that way, I’m not that way, and I don’t look that way. It’s what I am, and it’s who I am.” The previous record was set back in 2015 by Evelyn Scholz who achieved 211.398mph at Bonneville Salt Flats over a flying mile. The record breaking run was the second high speed attempt on the day, with Becci’s first go proving to be a challenge. “The acceleration at the beginning is pretty much similar to what I’ve got before,” she continued. “You don’t really feel anything until you’re actually at full pelt, to be honest. “But I did feel that my head may well have not been low enough because towards the end of the run I was wishing that it was over because my neck was being pushed back quite severely.” View Beccis Hero Profile. How Turbochargers and High-Performance Motor Oil Propel Your Ride
In the heart of every car enthusiast beats the desire for power, speed, and an exhilarating driving experience. One key player in achieving these automotive aspirations is the turbocharger, a technological marvel that transforms an ordinary ride into a high-performance beast. However, to truly unlock the potential of your turbocharged engine, you need more than just raw horsepower; you need a high-quality, performance motor oil like the Gravity® Drive Motor Oil. Let’s take a deep dive into the world of turbochargers, understanding how they work and why the right motor oil is crucial for optimal performance. The Turbocharger Unveiled: Picture this: you’re behind the wheel, pushing the accelerator to the limit, and suddenly, a surge of power propels you forward. That surge is the magic of a turbocharger at work. At its core, a turbocharger is a forced induction device that compresses the air entering the engine, allowing more oxygen to mix with fuel, resulting in a more potent combustion. This, in turn, produces additional power, taking your driving experience to a whole new level. How Does a Turbocharger Work? Air Intake: The process begins with the turbocharger drawing in air from the surroundings. Compression: Once the air is inside, it passes through the compressor housing, where it’s compressed before entering the engine. Increased Oxygen Levels: The compressed air contains more oxygen, allowing for a more efficient fuel combustion process. Exhaust Release: Simultaneously, the engine’s exhaust gases are directed through the turbine housing, driving a turbine wheel. Power Transmission: As the turbine wheel spins, it’s connected to the compressor wheel by a shaft. This connection ensures that the compressor wheel spins as well, creating a continuous cycle of air intake and compression. The Need for High-Performance Motor Oil: Now, while turbochargers work wonders in enhancing your engine’s power, they also subject it to increased stress and temperatures. This is where the choice of motor oil becomes paramount, and Gravity Drive Motor Oil steps into the spotlight. Temperature Regulation: Turbochargers generate intense heat during operation. High-performance motor oil, like Gravity® Drive, is designed to withstand these elevated temperatures, ensuring optimal lubrication and preventing potential damage. Reduced Friction: The intricate components of a turbocharged engine move at incredibly high speeds. Gravity® Drive’s advanced formulation reduces friction, promoting smoother operation and extending the life of critical engine parts. Cleaning and Protection: The turbocharger’s intricate components demand a motor oil that goes beyond basic lubrication. Gravity® Drive Motor Oil contains special additives that clean and protect the engine, ensuring a longer life for both the turbocharger and the entire powertrain. Enhanced Performance: A high-quality motor oil isn’t just a necessity; it’s a performance booster. Gravity® Drive is engineered to provide the right balance of viscosity, ensuring optimal oil flow and maintaining consistent pressure throughout the engine, ultimately enhancing overall performance. In Conclusion: In the realm of high-performance driving, the marriage of a turbocharger and a premium motor oil like Gravity® Drive is a symphony that transforms your vehicle into a true powerhouse. By understanding the intricate dance of a turbocharger and the critical role that motor oil plays, you’re not just driving; you’re experiencing the pinnacle of automotive excellence. So, buckle up, fuel your passion, and let the turbocharged journey begin!
Why Good Race Tyres Are Essential for Your Car
Are you a car enthusiast or a professional racer looking to optimise your vehicle’s performance? One critical component that often gets overlooked is the choice of tyres. In this article, we’ll explore the vital role that high-quality race tyres play in enhancing your car’s performance and safety. 1. Grip and Traction When it comes to racing or spirited driving, maintaining optimal grip and traction on the road is paramount. Race tyres are specially designed to provide superior grip, ensuring that your car can effectively transfer power to the ground. In the wet and slippery conditions often encountered on the road, having tyres that can grip the road can be a lifesaver. Better traction means better control, allowing you to navigate corners and curves with confidence. 2. Improved Handling Race tyres are engineered for precision handling.
