UK’s Fastest VW Golf dominates the drag strip with XHYPE

After some successful testing and racing at the XHYPE RWYB event at Melbourne Raceway, our very own XHYPE Hero Wayne Gill headed down to Santa Pod Raceway for the GTI Spring Festival 2024, a show for enthusiasts of all VAG marques: SEAT, Skoda, Audi and of course Volkswagen. And now the Volkswagen Group includes Lamborghini, Bentley and Bugatti too, so we are bound to see some quality action. Wayne Gill took to socials to update us on his success saying. Lost for words again.. this car is unreal.. 9.72 still getting to grips with it all.. 1 thing for sure we definitely moving in the right directions Accompanied by his mk7.5 VW Golf, Wayne participated in an exhilarating drag racing event at Santa Pod Raceway and the Volkswagen Drag Racing Club (VWDRC). The occasion presented an opportunity for club members to engage in demo sessions alongside the renowned Street Outlaws, offering invaluable track time for enthusiasts like Wayne. Arriving promptly at 8:30 am, Wayne and his team utilised the early hours for meticulous preparation, including the strategic swapping of wheels and removal of the exhaust to optimize the car’s performance by shedding excess weight. Such attention to detail underscores the commitment to achieving peak results on the track. Taking to the lanes at 10am for the first run of the day, Wayne navigated through initial nerves to deliver a commendable performance, albeit encountering some minor challenges along the way. Despite this, a respectable time of 9.85 seconds at 139 mph was achieved, laying the foundation for subsequent improvements. With intervals of cooling time between runs, Gill’s second endeavor at 11:45 am showcased strong progress, culminating in a noteworthy personal best of 9.76 seconds at 135 mph. Particularly impressive was the acceleration, evidenced by an exceptional 1.45-second 60-foot time, underscoring the car’s formidable capabilities. As the day progressed, with a quick top up of some XHYPE® Gravity® Drive performance engine oil and meticulous maintenance and adjustments he ensured the car remained in optimal condition for each subsequent run. By the time of the final run at 2 pm, Wayne’s relentless pursuit of excellence yielded yet another personal best, clocking a quarter mile time of 9.72 seconds at an impressive 139 mph. Our XHYPE Heroes are always engineered to WIN and notably, this run epitomised Waynes skill and the car’s peak performance, affirming its continual refinement and enhancement throughout the event. Culminating in a triumphant display of skill and dedication, Wayne Gill’s efforts were duly recognised with victory in both the “Fastest 1.8 and Above” class and the accolade of “Fastest VW of the Show.” Following the awards ceremony, the team restored the car to its original configuration before embarking on the journey homeward, reaffirming its status as a formidable 9-second daily driver. XHYPE Hero Wayne Gill’s exemplary performance at the drag racing event serves as a testament to the enduring spirit of motorsport enthusiasts and the relentless pursuit of excellence within the VW community and beyond. Gravity® Drive Dominates: Greg Lambert Racing Secures Four Victories in Spectacular Fashion!

In a clean sweep, competing last weekend (13-14th April 2024) at Pembrey Circuit in South Wales, the Greg Lambert Racing sidecar team secured 4 victories in their pursuit of the British Motorcycle Racing Club F2 sidecar championship. Saturday started with qualifying in damp/overcast conditions, however a rapidly drying track surface made tyre choice tricky. The team elected to go out with full wets and successfully qualified on pole. Race 1 saw an excellent start and the team led the field into the critical hairpin corner, and then successfully set about creating a gap over the other F2 sidecar cars, crossing the finish line to secure the team’s first victory of the day. The 2nd race on Saturday followed a very similar format, with the team swiftly establishing a leading gap from the start, which they held until the finish. Overnight the team changed an engine, as part of their 2024 Isle of Man TT Races preparation, using XHYPE high performance Gravity Ride oil to keep their engines fresh and well prepared. Sunday started cooler, but dry and wonderfully sunny. Whilst the weather made tyre choice straight forward, the rest of the field made the racing far less so. Race 1 saw the team make an excellent start but immediately enter a race long battle with another very quick team. Positions were regularly swapped throughout the race, with driver Greg and passenger Andy putting the leading outfit under pressure at every opportunity. This paid off as a mistake at the hairpin forced the leaders out wide and Greg/Andy were able to capitalise, passing on the inside and then creating a leading gap until crossing the line in first position for the 3rd win of the weekend. Sundays second race was very much a repeat of the first, with the team needing to battle hard to maintain position, but as the team were closing in on the leaders another mistake saw them having to retire from the race, with Greg/Andy then having a significant gap over the rest of the field, easily finishing first to secure a clean sweep of 4 victories. The weekends result now see the team holding a 45 point championship lead with the next round taking place 4-5th May at Snetterton, Norfolk. Greg Lambert Racing is a motorcycle sidecar racing team led by Greg Lambert, with passengers Andy Jevens and Andy Haynes. The team compete on tracks across the UK and at the Isle of Man TT races – recent successes include 2 x 8th places at the TT, Southern 100 podium finishes and multiple club and national championships. Greg also operates a “sidecar school” where he offers sidecar driver/passenger experiences and tuition in order to bring new people into the sport. XHYPE played host at the 2024 Spring Nationals put on by Straigtliners on Satuday 13th and Sunday 14th Aptil 2024. This followed round 1 which took place at Santa Pod the previous week. After a wet Saturday with little racing action we were back in full force on the Sunday. Saturday 13th April Results DOWNLOAD SATURDAY RESULTS HERE Sunday 14th April Results ASHLEY HODGSON DOES THE DOUBLE AND PETER SLATER JOINS THE 5 SECOND CLUB With a good couple of first runs for Peter Slater in the low sixes it was on the cards that he would be next to join the 5 second club on his newly painted Turbo Hayabusa. Peter’s first 5 was a 5.74secs, just shy of Kevin Melling’s 5.70sec two wheel record but then came the run that put that record to bed with a brilliant 5.63sec run Peter finishing the weekend with a whole string of 5sec runs. Peter made it through to the final of NO MERCY SHOOTOUT courtesy of a breakout from Gilbert Cook to line up against Ashley Hodgson who came through on a bye. Both read the lights to perfection but Ashley just crossed the line first on his BMW 1000R for the first of his two victories. In the 6 SECOND class it was  an on form Maxine Taylor in top spot with a perfect 6.00sec run. In the semi finals Ian Wicks beat Chris Hodgson to make the final with Ashley Hodgson beating Maxine by virtue of a quicker start. Come the final and both Ian and Ashley cut perfect greens but Ian veered over the centre line so was instantly eliminated, it being very close at the finish line so Ashley made it a pair of wins. SCOOTER NO MERCY SHOOTOUT saw Eric Cope beat Stuart McVicker in the first semi and Paul Gurney beating Amy Wolstenholme to make the final. It was tight heading towards the finish line with Eric just pushing too hard and breaking out leaving Paul Gurney to take his second win of the season. JUNIORS first of the semi’s saw the best buddies Alfie Barraclough and Jack Taylor line up with a nailbiting close run seeing Jack edge the win to line up against Jorja Cleall who’d come through on a bye. Both were as keen as ever to take the win but sadly Jorja went under her dial in and broke out with Jack taking the win just 3/100ths inside his dial in. In JUNIOR SPRINT CAR Toby Jackson beat Jack Taylor who was left snoozing on the green losing even though he ran a perfect time, Toby had crossed the stripe first. Young Bradley Brook on his first weekend of racing was against Jude Elliott but he red lit giving Bradley to run against Toby in the final. Bradley made a great start but Toby was a little too keen pulling a red light handing Bradley his first win. NSCC first semi saw the Saturday winner, Ian Walley, against the only man likely to beat him, Phil Winstanley, but Phil’s had a definite popping in the exhaust on the line the engine not sounding it’s best as Ian trounced him to make the final. Mark Savage joined him beating Craig Brown so it was that Ian once again won. Mark Flavell in the newly bodied Mustang alcohol funny car ran a couple of 5sec runs his best 5.09sec was just shy of his best ever 5.06sec but he did his best ever speed of 160mph, a great effort considering this was the first meeting of the year and the track is still a bit on the slick side. The Importance of Engine Oil Changes and the XHYPE® Advantage

Owning a performance car is a thrilling experience, but it comes with the responsibility of proper maintenance to ensure optimal performance and longevity. One crucial aspect of maintenance is regular engine oil changes. In this article, we’ll explore the significance of timely oil changes for performance vehicles and shed light on why XHYPE® Gravity® Engine Oil stands out as the ideal choice for enthusiasts seeking top-tier protection, cleaning, and performance. The Importance of Regular Engine Oil Changes: Engine oil serves as the lifeblood of your car’s powerplant, providing lubrication to crucial components, reducing friction, and dissipating heat. Over time, however, oil degrades and loses its effectiveness due to factors such as heat, contaminants, and engine wear. Regular oil changes are essential to maintaining a healthy engine and ensuring it operates at peak performance. Neglecting this crucial aspect of maintenance can lead to increased wear, reduced efficiency, and even engine damage. How Often Should You Change Your Engine Oil? The frequency of oil changes depends on several factors, including the type of oil, driving conditions, and the manufacturer’s recommendations. For performance cars that often experience demanding driving conditions, it’s generally advisable to change the oil more frequently than in standard vehicles. While the traditional rule of thumb has been every 3,000 miles, many modern vehicles, especially those with high-performance engines, can go longer between oil changes. It’s crucial to consult your car’s manual and consider factors such as driving habits and environmental conditions to determine the optimal oil change interval. XHYPE® Gravity® Engine Oil: Elevating Performance and Protection: When it comes to choosing the right engine oil for your performance car, not all oils are created equal. A clean engine is a more efficient engine, and this is especially important for maximizing performance in high-powered vehicles. Enhanced Performance: XHYPE® Gravity® Engine Oil is engineered to enhance overall engine performance, promoting smoother operation and improved power delivery. The result is a more responsive and efficient driving experience, which is exactly what enthusiasts seek in their performance cars. Conclusion: Regular engine oil changes are essential for preserving the performance and longevity of your high-powered vehicle.
